Blatant Self Promo: Post on Wisconsin Point Guards at Where55Happens | Disciples of Uecker

Disciples of Uecker

We'd like to go to the Playoffs, that would be cool.

If you follow my twitter account (see sidebar), you’ve probably noticed that I’ve been tweeting a lot about basketball lately. This is because, despite my utter and complete lack of basketball skills or experience, I’m a huge fan of the sport.

If you don’t care, sorry!

If you do, or if you’re just a fan of the University of Wisconsin basketball team, you may be interested in this stat-heavy (surprise!) treatise (it’s long!) on point guards who have played under Bo Ryan since the Devin Harris days. It’s over at Where55Happens owned and operated by my friend Dan Sinclair, who has also contributed to Brew Hoop and .

So go check it out if that’s your thing. We’ll get back to more regular baseball posts here after the conclusion of the World Series.

Just wanted to say that’s one hell of an article. Has anyone else in the world noticed that the Badgers never have a “top 25 recruiting class” in neither football nor basketball and are still rarely out of the top 25 when it gets to the end of a season? We all knew Bo could coach ‘em up, and the article gives excellent evidence, but when did Bielema grow up and put his coaching pants on?

I also have a couple questions on the state of the farm system for the Crew. What is your opinion on Rickie Weeks vs. Brett Lawrie? Granted we have one year left w/ Rickie in arbitration and then he’s a free agent, but he wouldn’t cost TOO much too keep around for another 3-5 yrs would he? Brett Lawrie, on the other hand, has proved nothing on the major league level, but seems to have the talent and the ability to be a difference maker at 2B not unlike Rickie. Which direction does the franchise go? We can’t put Lawrie at an outfield corner spot; we have Brauny and Hart holding those spots down for a few years. And secondly, do you see Mat Gamel as the starting 1B when the season starts? In my opinion, the Crew almost have to trade off Prince to get one frontline starter and a decent prospect and that leaves his spot wide open. Should be an interesting offseason!

Anyways, just wanted to say, as a fellow U Dub student, big fan of the blog. Keep it goin man!
