Brewers 4, CARDINALS 3: A Great Win In A Disappointing Season | Disciples of Uecker

Disciples of Uecker

We'd like to go to the Playoffs, that would be cool.

The Brewers, despite this win, are still only 23-34. They’re still 10 games out of a playoff spot and are in 5th place in the division.

That doesn’t mean that this wasn’t a great win. Manny Parra pitched like I thought he could entering this season. The bullpen managed to shut a good offense down in the Cardinals for 4.2 innings. Kameron Loe continued to get ground balls and destroy right handed pitching. Zach Braddock showed why he’s the closer of the future. Rickie Weeks slugged another home run. Prince Fielder had three hits and Braun added two. Corey Hart managed to clutch up on an 0-2 fastball from flamethrower Jason Motte. The Brewers eked out a 4-3 extra inning win against the best team in the division. Any Brewer fan watching this game would have to completely lack a soul to not be excited by it. It had everything: a fantastic pitching performance, clutch hits, and a tremendous, gutsy bullpen performance.

And yet, this season will likely end up as a complete disappointment. As such, I leave you with one final piece to consider:

Jeff Suppan’s CHONE projection entering the season: 5.23 FIP
ZiPS: 5.22 FIP

Manny Parra’s CHONE projection entering the season: 4.32 FIP
ZiPS: 4.50 FIP
