This year has seen a major step for Yovani Gallardo – he’s gone from a #2 on a solid staff to one of the best pitchers in the National Leagues. The big reason for this is a cut down in walks, but let’s not forget what has made Gallardo so fantastic ever since he reached the major leagues, his ability to strike out opposing hitters. Gallardo has always been above average in this sense, and we saw the strikeouts in bunches last year. They’re up again this year, and now Gallardo leads the NL in strikeouts per nine innings.
Utter domination, and he’s locked up until 2015.
