Law: Brewers to pick RHP Deck McGuire at #14. | Disciples of Uecker

Disciples of Uecker

We'd like to go to the Playoffs, that would be cool.

It’s insider-only, but Keith Law’s latest mock draft is up, and he has Georgia Tech pitcher Deck McGuire coming to Milwaukee with the 14th pick.

McGuire was the 2009 ACC pitcher of the year and has pitched well in 2010, putting up an 8-4 record and a 3.01 ERA. In just over 100 innings, McGuire has struck out 112 and only walked 31. With metal bats and all the other variables that we see in college baseball, I don’t particularly trust FIP here, but you can see that and some other cool stuff here at his college splits page.

According to Baseball Rumor Mill, McGuire has a mid-90s fastball and throws a changeup, a curveball, and a slider. That’s definitely a starter’s repertoire, and this organization desperately needs a starting pitcher to work out.

Did I mention his name is Deck McGuire? How awesome is that?
