With Bill Hall’s release from the Houston Astros today, many around the Milwaukee Brewers have suggested him as a potential replacement for Yuniesky Betancourt as the Brewers’ shortstop. I can’t pretend that I haven’t considered the idea intriguing as well. I haven’t completely made up my mind yet, and so I present, without comment, the statistics of Hall as well as the Brewers current middle infield corps of Betancourt, Josh Wilson, and Craig Counsell over the past three seasons, as well as projections.
A reminder: as usual, I use the AVG/OBP/SLG format with triple-slash lines.
And another note: for “DEF” I am using UZR + positional adjustment, to account for different positions played.
And a final note: All WAR totals from FanGraphs

The brew crew really do not need Billy “K” Hall… just like the Red Sox and like how the Lastro’s found out.
I nicknamed Bill Hall as “E5″ when he played for the Brewers cuz he cost us so many runs do to his errors at third base. Forget Hall!!! Yuni is obiviously a more confident/reliable player!!
I’m more worried right now about McGehee at 3rd base than Betancourt at SS… one hole in the lineup is not so terrible, but two?
Surprised that Bill Hill has had a negative defensive rating for the last 2 years. I always remembered him as a pretty elite defender. Even more surprised that Yuni’s is positive on the year.
Where’s the Casey McGehee vs ANYONE else at this point?
Seriously..
Your site is really cool to me and your subject matter is very relevant. I was browsing around and came across something you might find interesting. I was guilty of 3 of them with my sites. “99% of blog owners are guilty of these five errors”. http://is.gd/tLGOTx You will be suprised how simple they are to fix.
