Prospect of the Day:  OF Kentrail Davis

It was a rather uninspiring day on the farm, aside from a solid start from right-hander David Goforth and a nice doubleheader for right fielder Kentrail Davis. The former supplemental first-rounder is 6-for-12 (.500 AVG) over his first four games, including four walks and only three strikeouts. Scouts have always lauded his raw tools — even back to his days at the University of Tennessee — but his game-performance has always left much to be desired.

Davis has been overshadowed in recent years by Khris Davis, even though they’re not related, but Kentrail Davis isn’t finished as a prospect. He’s only 24 years old and the organization still holds out hope that he’ll eventually put it all together. It’s only four games — so obviously temper expectations — but the front office has to be pleased with how Kentrail Davis has begun his 2013 campaign.
