Prospect of the Day:  OF Franklin Romero Jr.

The speedy outfielder has collected hits in four-consecutive games, but none more impressive than his game on Friday evening for Brevard County. He went 2-for-2 and collected an extra-base hit and two walks. Considering he only walked six times in 93 games last year, those two walks are noteworthy in terms of deviation from career norms.

Romero compiled a .249 OBP last season. Nothing to get overly concerned about in terms of reaching the big leagues, but the young man is still an entertaining player to watch when flying around the basepaths. He also possesses a solid arm in right field. I watched him fire one in from right field to third base in drills last season that did not even touch the dirt.

Solid night for the 23-year-old out of Cerro Coso Community College.
