Prospect of the Day: OF Max Walla
Walla spent much of the beginning of the year on the disabled list after suffering an injury in spring training. He is back in action now, and Wednesday night’s performance was his best of the season. After struggling in his first few games, he is 7-for-20 in his last five contests appears to be turning things around at the plate.
The 21-year-old outfielder was a second-round pick by the Brewers back in 2009 and was lauded for his raw power potential. That power potential has not blossomed as the organization had hoped, but the skills still remain. He possesses quick wrists and bat speed that can flash plus at times. He will need to handle left-handed pitching better as he progresses up the system, but Walla is looking to build upon his 2011 season that saw him hit .285/.374/.411 with the Helena Brewers in the Pioneer League.
