Prospect of the Day:  C Robinzon Diaz (Double-A Huntsville)

The Toronto Blue Jays signed Diaz out of the Dominican Republic in 2000, but he’s perhaps best known for being traded to Pittsburgh as a part of the Jose Bautista deal — which turned out pretty well for the Blue Jays.

Diaz saw some time in the major leagues in 2008 and 2009 with the Pirates. Recently, though, he’s been bouncing around the upper levels of the minors with Detroit, Texas, Los Angeles, and now Milwaukee. He hit a combined .290/.314/.432 last year between Salt Lake (Angels) and Round Rock (Rangers) — so it shouldn’t be surprising to see Diaz hit for a high average and occasionally knock one out of the park with Double-A Huntsville, like he did on Tuesday.

Other news:

>>  Francisco Rodriguez pitched a perfect inning in his 2013 debut. Because the deal he signed gave him an opt-out date after 30 days, K-Rod will have to pitch rather frequently for the Brewers to truly evaluate him and how he potentially fits with the big-league club this year. The plan is for him to pitch three times this week then bump up to Triple-A Nashville.

>>  After only nine pitches last night, right-hander Mark Rogers left the game with an apparent injury to his throwing arm. He surrendered a homer and a walk, but was unable to continue after only two pitches to his third batter of the inning.
