The Brewers drafted the left-hander out of Oklahoma State University in the 10th round of the 2011 MLB Draft. He struggled a bit in his introduction to professional baseball, compiling a 6.10 ERA over 62.0 innings of work. Command proved to be the biggest culprit, as he walked 30 batters in 62 innings. That is almost one walk per every two innings.
In his first two outings with the Timber Rattlers this year, however, he has yet to surrender a single run and has only allowed two hits. Though the organization has to be concerned about the 2-to-4 strikeout-to-walk ratio, it’s way too early to judge his performance this season. Far too small of a sample size. Still, the early results mirror last season’s peripherals. That has to be concerning.
