Prospect of the Day:  OF Tyrone Taylor (Class-A Wisconsin)

A year ago, we were talking about the 2012 MLB Draft and how the Brewers selected an extremely raw, toolsy outfielder in Tyrone Taylor with their second-round pick. Scouting reports cautioned that he needed some swing adjustments and would require patience.

This year, though, the 19-year-old outfielder is beginning to tear up the Midwest League. He went 2-for-2 with three RBI and a pair of walks — raising his season batting average to .284. Over the last ten games, he’s been phenomenal, hitting .472/.587/.694 with three doubles, a triple and a home run. It’s been interesting to track his performance this year, as he has no platoon split and isn’t striking out much. The majority of damage has come in the last couple weeks, but he has more than held his own throughout the season.

Not bad for a raw, 19-year-old outfielder in his first attempt at full-season ball, eh?
