Prospect of the Day:  RHP Tyler Wagner (Class-A Wisconsin)

As mentioned in our mid-season Top 30 Prospects, right-hander Tyler Wagner is perhaps the biggest surprise starting pitcher in the organization. He’s posted a 3.26 ERA over 143.2 innings, including a solid outing on Monday which saw him surrender just two runs over seven innings. His fastball has been sitting 92-94 mph, touching as high as 96 mph, and his slider has taken a step forward.

If his command and changeup can develop, he possesses a legitimate chance to become a back-end starter in the majors. At the least, he projects to be a relief arm who is extremely tough on right-handers with a fastball/slider combination — but the organization will certainly let him continue as a starter until he proves he can no longer handle the role.

Tyler Alexander with 4 K’s in one inning for Helena? The old passed ball strikeout folly?

Yup, hum the Benny Hill Theme song while reading below:

Pitching Change: Tyler Alexander replaces Tristan Archer.
      Ryan Garvey strikes out swinging.
Dom Nunez strikes out swinging, catcher Michael Turay to first baseman Adam Giacalone.
      Robbie Perkins walks.
With Terry McClure batting, wild pitch by Tyler Alexander, Robbie Perkins to 2nd.
Terry McClure strikes out swinging. Terry McClure advances to 1st, on a throwing error by catcher Michael Turay.
Wild pitch by pitcher Tyler Alexander. Robbie Perkins to 3rd.
      Raimel Tapia strikes out swinging.
