Jorge Ortega worked seven scoreless innings for Helena on Wednesday.

NASHVILLE 13, El Paso 3

Matt Clark hit two home runs and Hector Gomez added another as the Sounds clubbed El Paso 13-3. Donovan Hand picked up the win, going five innings and giving up three runs. Dustin Molleken followed with 2.2 scoreless and Jose De La Torre tossed the final 1.1 innings without allowing a hit or a run. Sean halton went 3-for-6 with a double. Eugenio Velez, Jeremy Hermida, Gomez, and Clark all had two hit nights and Logan Schafer extended his hitting streak to 11 games, going 1-for-3 with a pair of walks.

HUNTSVILLE 5, Tennessee 6

After Huntsville scored four runs in the sixth to tie the game, Tennessee came up with a run in the bottom of the ninth walk off with a 6-5 win. Jacob Barnes started and went five innings, allowing five runs. Manny Barreda and Greg Holle combined for three scoreless innings, but Tim Dillard allowed the ninth inning run that would prove to be the difference and was charged with the loss. Yadiel Rivera went 2-for-4 with a triple and three runs batted in and Barnes added a single and a double in two at bats.


After playing two in Daytona on Tuesday, the Manatees were off on Wednesday. They return to play on Thursday when they host the Daytona Cubs in another doubleheader.

Clinton 2, WISCONSIN 6

Timber Rattlers pitchers allowed just two runs as they defeated Clinton 6-2. Preston Gainey started and went five innings, giving up one run. Luke Curtis was next up and gave up one run in three innings. Chris Razo worked a scoreless ninth. Johnny Davis and Chris McFarland each had two hits for Wisconsin. Clint Coulter doubled and knocked in three runs and Michael Ratterree added a single and a pair of walks.

Idaho Falls 0, HELENA 3

Helena blanked Idaho Falls 3-0 as Jorge Ortega worked seven scoreless innings to earn the win. Wesley Cox tossed a clean eighth inning and Donnie Hissa closed the door in the ninth to preserve the shutout and earn his first save. Brandon Diaz led the Helena offense, going 2-for-4 while Connor Narron singled and drew two walks and Jack Cleary chipped in a double.


The Giants took game one of their doubleheader, scoring two in the sixth and one in the seventh to beat the Brewers 4-3. Joshua Torres started and went five innings, allowing one run. David Burkhalter followed and allowed two runs in an inning of work and Tyler Alexander took the loss after allowing a run in a third of an inning. Hunter Morris and Troy Stokes each homered and walked while Matt Martin added a triple in three at bats.


The Giants scored six runs in the tenth inning to break open a 2-2 game as they beat the Brewers 8-2. Jordan Yamamoto started and went three scoreless innings. Caleb Smith followed and went two innings, allowing two runs. Angel Ventura followed and worked 4.1 innings, giving up four runs and was charged with the loss. Yunior Santana and Juan Ortiz each collected two hits while Monte Harrison and Daniel Leonardo each added a single and a walk.


Nicol Valderrey hit a pair of home runs as the Brewers doubled up the Braves 4-2. Yosmer Leal started and earned his first win of the season, going seven innings and giving up just two runs. Melvin Tejada worked the final two scoreless frames to earn the save. Valderrey finished the day 4-for-4 with the two home runs while Johel Atencio went 2-for-4 with a double and Joantgel Segovia added a single.
