Ariel Pena picked up his sixth win of the season for the Sounds, going seven innings and allowing just a single unearned run while striking out seven. Kevin Mattison went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run while Matt Clark added his first home run since joining Nashville. Eugenio Velez had a double and a triple in five at bats and Jason Rogers went 2-for-4 with a double.
The Stars got home runs from Nick Ramirez, D’Vontrey Richardson and Hainley Statia as they beat Chattanooga 11-3. Yadiel Rivera went 3-for-4 with a double and a walk while Ramirez, Richardson and Statia each added two hits. Jacob Barnes started and got the win after going five innings and giving up just one earned run. Jim Henderson went two innings in a rehab outing, and allowed just one unearned run. Kevin Shackelford and David Goforth closed things out with one scoreless inning each.
Manatees starting pitcher Chad Pierce got roughed up for five runs on nine hits in four innings of work, as Brevard County fell to Charlotte 6-2. Mike Strong followed with three inning of relief and gave up just one unearned run while Mark Williams tossed the final two scoreless frames. Victor Roache led the Manatees offense, going 2-for-3 with a walk. Tyrone Taylor went 2-for-4 with a double while Mike Garza singled twice and Cameron Garfield contributed a double and a walk in four plate appearances.
The Rattlers carried a 3-2 lead in to the eighth inning but Quad Cities struck for five in the eighth and three in the ninth to knock off Wisconsin 10-5. Preston Gainey started and went six innings, allowing two runs, but the bullpen struggled as Harvey Martin allowed three runs in an inning of work and Luke Curtis gave up five runs in three innings. Chris McFarland led the Timber Rattlers offense, going 3-for-5 while Omar Garcia and Johnny Davis each added two hits.
In a game started Thursday night, Helena came back from an early 1-0 deficit to defeat Orem 3-2. Jorge Ortega started on Thursday and went four innings before the game was suspended by rain. Luis Ortega picked up on Friday when the game re-started and went four innings, allowing just one run to earn the win. Brandon Moore worked a scoreless eighth to earn the save. Third baseman Sthervin Matos had two singles and a walk in four plate appearances and Edgardo Rivera singled and walked.
Orem took game two on Friday night by a score of 10-4 as Cy Sneed was hit for eight runs, seven earned, in five innings. Gregory Munoz went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, Sthervin Matos went 2-for-3 with a single and a double, and Elvis Rubio collected two hits in three at bats.
Kodi Medeiros made his pro debut, going an inning and two-thirds on Friday night as the Brewers defeated the White Sox 6-4. Miguel Diaz followed Medeiros with four scoreless innings to earn the win and Gian Rizzo shutout the White Sox in the ninth to notch the save. Troy Stokes went 2-for-2 with a double and two walks and a rehabbing Garrett Cooper singled and walked in three at bats while playing third base. Juan Ortiz added a single and a walk and Connor Norton doubled and knocked in three runs.
The Braves doubled up the Brewers 6-3 as Milwaukee’s DSL affiliate fell back to .500 on the season. Nelson Hernandez started and went seven innings but took the loss after allowing four runs. Yerald Martinez launched his third home run of the season, but it was one of just three hits for the Brewers in the game. Joantgel Segovia singled, walked and was hit by a pitch and Geuris Santana added the only other Brewers base hit.
