Ariel Pena picked up his seventh win of the season as the Sounds knocked off Colorado Springs 5-2. Pena went six innings and allowed just two runs. Brent Leach worked two scoreless innings and Rob Wooten closed the door in the ninth for the save. Caleb Gindl went 3-for-4 with two doubles. Irvin Falu, Matt Clark and Kevin Mattison each collected two singles and Pete Orr added a home run.
Jackson scored three in the sixth and four in the eighth to topple Huntsville 8-3. Eric Marzec got the start and went five innings, allowing just one unearned run. Tommy Toledo took the loss after giving up three runs in a third of an inning. Hainley Statia went 3-for-4 with a home run and Nick Shaw added a single and a walk.
The Manatees were swept by Fort Myers on Wednesday, falling by a score of 9-2. Hobbs Johnson started and took the loss after giving up six runs, five earned. Nathan Orf went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles while Alfredo Rodriguez collected two hits as well and Parker Berberet added a double.
Wisconsin doubled up Lake County 8-4 as Preston Gainey earned his third win of the year. Gainey went five innings, allowing two earned runs while Seth Harvey and Luke Curtis each tossed two scoreless innings of relief. Chris McFarland had three hits in five at bats. Jose Pena doubled and homered and David Denson added two hits and knocked in three runs.
In a game cut short by rain, Helena fell to Great Falls 7-4. J.B. Kole was the losing pitcher after getting the start and allowing four runs, three earned in three innings. Outfielder Mitch Meyer went 1-for-3 with a double while Brandon Diaz and Eric Williams each added a single and a walk.
The Brewers bats came to life against Oakland as they scored 16 runs on 17 hits. Carlos Belonis finished the game 4-for-5 with a double and a walk. Monte Harrison singled, doubled, tripled and drew a pair of walks as the Brewers leadoff hitter and Laudi Otano added three singles and two walks. Troy Stokes, Juan Ortiz and Matt Martin each collected two hits. David Burkhalter started and went 3.1 innings, allowing just one run, Joshua Torres followed and gave up a run in 2.2 innings and earned the win while Kaleb Earls worked the final 2.1 innings to pick up the save.
The Brewers managed just three hits as they fell to the Braves 8-3. Kevin Martinez singled, Joantgel Segovia doubled and Yerald Martinez tripled for the only Brewers hits. Yosmer Leal started and took the loss after allowing three runs in three innings. Nattino Diplan, Junior Flores and Marcos Padilla gave up five runs in five innings of relief.
