The Sounds got 4.1 scoreless innings from starter Donovan Hand as they topped Oklahoma City 8-1. Kyle Heckathorn followed with an inning and two-thirds of shutout ball to earn the win. Sean Halton went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and knocked in three runs. Kevin Mattison went 2-for-4 with a double and a stolen base while Jason Rogers and Irving Falu each added two hits.
Chattanooga put up five runs in the first as they knocked off Huntsville 10-6. Drew Gagnon started and took the loss after giving up seven runs, five earned in three innings of work. Hector Gimenez led the offense, going 2-for-4 with a double. Yadiel Rivera tripled and drew a walk while Robinzon Diaz added a double.
Palm Beach, BREVARD COUNTY PPD (Rain)
The Manatees game against Palm Beach was postponed due to rain on Saturday night. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Sunday with the first contest scheduled for a 3:05 pm CST start time.
Fort Wayne jumped on starter Barrett Astin early as they doubled up Wisconsin 8-4. Astin went four innings, allowing six runs and was charged with the loss. Clint Coulter singled, doubled and walked while Taylor Brennan and Omar Garcia each added a single and a double.
Helena hung crooked numbers in each of the first four innings as they rolled over Missoula 14-5. Jorge Ortega picked up the win after starting and going six innings. Brandon Moore worked the final three scoreless innings to earn the save. Luis Aviles led the way offensively, going 3-for-5 with a home run and Tucker Neuhaus singled, doubled and drew a walk.
The Reds broke open a 3-3 tie with six runs in the seventh inning and beat the Brewers 9-3. Troy Stokes had three hits in four at bats to pace the Brewers. Daniel Leonardo also reached base three times with a pair of singles and a walk and Jacob Gatewood belted his second home run of the season. Starter Milton Gomez went six innings, allowing three runs before giving way to Bubba Blau who was tagged with the loss after giving up six runs, two earned, in two innings of work.
The Brewers dropped to 21-27 on the season, as they fell to the Rangers 7-4. Junior Flores started and took the loss, going six innings and giving up five runs, four earned. Juan Diaz followed and allowed two unearned runs in two innings and Axel Cordero worked a scoreless ninth. Yerald Martinez led the offense, going 2-for-4 with a double. Joantgel Segovia also had a 2-for-4 game and Johel Atencio knocked in a pair of runs.
