NASHVILLE 4, Round Rock 0

The Sounds blanked Round Rock as Michael Blazek twirled 5.1 scoreless innings to earn his first win of the season. Alfredo Figaro, Brent Leach and Donovan Hand combined for the final 3.2 innings to preserve the shutout. Hector Gomez and Jeremy Hermida each homered for Nashville and Sean Halton wetn 2-for-4 with a double.

Jackson 3, HUNTSVILLE 4

Kentrail Davis scored on a seventh inning double by Robinzon Diaz to break a 3-3 tie and the Stars held on for a 4-3 win. Diaz and Greg Hopkins each finished the game 2-for-4 with a double while Shea Vucinich singled, walked and added a pair of RBI. Jacob Barnes started and went 5.1 innings, allowing three runs, two earned. Greg Holle followed with 1.2 scoreless innings and picked up the win while David Goforth worked the final two frames and earned his 17th save of the season.


The Manatees were rained out for the second night in a row. They will make up Friday’s regularly scheduled game as part of a doubleheader on August 14th.

WISCONSIN 5, Quad Cities 2

The Rattlers trailed 2-0 entering the ninth inning, but hung five runs on the River Bandits in the top of the ninth to win 5-3. Preston Gainey started for Wisconsin and went seven innings, allowing just two unearned runs and striking out ten. Tyler Spurlin worked the final two innings and was awarded the win following the T-Rats comeback. Chris McFarland had two hits in four at bats to lead the offense. Clint Coulter singled and walked and Steven Halcomb added a double and knocked in two runs.

HELENA 5, Great Falls 3

Helena scored three runs in the eighth and another in the ninth as they knocked off Great Falls 5-3. Edgardo Rivera and Francisco Castillo each collected two hits while Brandon Diaz scored a pair of runs and Gregory McCall knocked in two. Jorge Ortega started on the mound and went five innings. Wesley Cox followed with two scoreless innings to earn the win. Drew Ghelfi pitched a scoreless eighth and Luke Curtis worked the ninth without allowing a run to earn the save.


The Maryvale squad was off on Friday. They return to play on Saturday night when they travel to Goodyear to take on the Reds.


Trailing 6-5 heading to the ninth inning, designated hitter Kevin Martinez knocked in a pair of runs to give the Brewers a come-from-behind 7-6 victory. Nelson Hernandez started and went five innings. Juan Diaz earned the win for the Brewers after tossing two scoreless innings of relief and striking out three. Melvin Tejada worked a scoreless ninth for the save. Joantgel Segovia led the Brewers offense, picking up three hits in five plate appearances. Kevin Martinez finished the game 2-for-5 with three runs batted in and Yerald Martinez went 2-for-5 with a double.
