Johnnie Lowe got roughed up for four runs in the first inning and Nashville fell to Salt Lake 5-1. Kyle Heckathorn, Alfredo Figaro, Arcenio Leon and Brent Leach combined for 5.1 scoreless innings while Donovan Hand gave up a run in two innings on the mound. offensively, Caleb Gindl went 3-for-4 with a triple and Pete Orr doubled in three at bats.
The Stars took a 2-1 lead to the ninth, but Montgomery put up three runs before Huntsville answered with two in the bottom of the ninth to send the game to extras. Montgomery then tallied a run in the tenth to knock off Huntsville 5-4. Jacob Barnes started and went 5.2 scoreless, allowing just two hits. David Goforth gave up the three ninth inning runs and Greg Holle surrendered the run in the tenth and was charged with the loss. Josh Prince had three hits for the Stars while Jason Rogers went 2-for-5 with a double and Nick Ramirez singled, walked and hit his 14th home run of the season.
The Manatees got a 5-for-5 performance from shortstop Orlando Arcia as they topped Lakeland 10-4. Damien Magnifico started for Brevard and went six innings, allowing three runs, two earned to pick up his fourth win of the year. Martin Viramontes gave up a run in 1.1 innings and Scott Lieser set down all four batters he faced to finish off the Tigers. Michael Garza went 3-for-5, Nathan Orf doubled and tripled, Tyrone Taylor singled twice and drew a walk and Michael Reed chipped in a single and two walks.
Kane County tagged Rattlers starter Preston Gainey for six runs in three innings as they knocked off Wisconsin 9-3. Omar Garcia had three hits for the Timber Rattlers and stole his 29th base of the season while Taylor Brennan singled and drew a pair of walks.
The Brewers used a four run sixth inning to knock off Missoula by a run on Tuesday night. Jorge Ortega got the start and went five innings, allowing three runs. Brandon Moore followed with three scoreless innings of relief and Luke Curtis set down the Osprey in order in the ninth to pick up the save. Brandon Diaz had two singles and a double as the Helena leadoff man. Third baseman Tucker Neuhaus had two doubles and knocked in a run. Dustin DeMuth went 2-for-2 with a walk and a sac fly, and shortstop Luis Aviles went 2-for-4 with a double.
AZL BREWERS Idle
The Brewers were off on Tuesday night. They return to play on Wednesday when they play host to the Dodgers AZL affiliate.
An eight run second inning for the Cubs proved to be too much for the Brewers to overcome as they lost 10-7. Rodrigo Benoit took the loss after allowing eight runs in just 1.1 innings, though all eight runs were unearned as the Brewers committed five errors on the day. Melvin Tejada allowed one unearned run in 3.2 innings, Marcos Padilla pitched two scoreless and Boanerges Nova gave up an unearned run over the final two frames. Juan De Los Santos led the offense with a single, a double and two walks. Yerald Martinez singled and tripled in five at bats and Raphachel Colatosti added a single and a walk.
