New Orleans 4, NASHVILLE 6

The Sounds scored six runs on ten hits to defeat New Orleans on Sunday evening. Starter, Michael Blazek, allowed three runs in 3.2 innings. Brent Leach added 1.1 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win, Dustin Molleken followed with two shutout innings and Jeremy Jeffress finished the job in the ninth to earn the save. Jeremy Hermida went 3-for-4 with a double while Hector Gomez walked, singled and tripled in four plate appearances. Hunter Morris homered and scored a pair of runs and Sean Halton went 2-for-4.

HUNTSVILLE 9, Mississippi 7

Joey Paciorek came through with a two-run single in the ninth inning to knock off Mississippi 9-7. Kentrail Davis reached base in all five plate appearances, walking twice to go with two singles and a double. Yadiel Rivera, D’Vontrey Richardson and Erik Komatsu each added two base hits for the Stars. Jacob Barnes started and went six innings, allowing three earned runs. Tommy Toledo pitched two scoreless innings to pick up the win and David Goforth set down the side in order in the ninth to notch his 16th save.

BREVARD COUNTY 5, Clearwater 3

The Manatees used a three run fifth inning to help complete a three game sweep of Clearwater. Damien Magnifico picked up the win after going five innings and allowing three runs and Mike Strong followed with four shutout innings of relief to earn the save. Michael Garza led the way offensively, going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles. Michael Reed added a double and a triple in four at bats and Tyrone Taylor and Brandon Macias each contributed two singles.

Burlington 5, WISCONSIN 3

Preston Gainey dropped his second straight start to fall to 2-5 on the season after allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks in five innings of action. Tyler Spurlin came on in relief of Gainey and tossed three scoreless frames for the Rattlers. Michael Ratterree reached base safely in all four of his plate appearances with a single, double, home run and a walk. Chris McFarland added two hits – a single and a double – in his second game back from the disabled list and Omar Garcia and Steven Halcomb each added a single.

HELENA 3, Billings 4

Helena came back to tie the game with two runs in the top of the ninth, but Billings pushed across the game-winner in the bottom of the ninth to defeat the Brewers 4-3. Tucker Neuhaus hit his first home run of the year and drew a pair of walks while Luis Aviles, Elvis Rubio, Jack Cleary and Eric Williams each added a single. Jorge Ortega started and allowed just one run over six innings. Brandon Moore followed Ortega and gave up a pair of unearned runs in two innings. Luke Curtis came on for the ninth and took the loss after allowing one run in a third of an inning.


The AZL Brewers had the day off on Sunday. They will be back in action on Monday night when they take on Mariners AZL affiliate at Maryvale Baseball Park.


The Dominican Summer League was off on Sunday. The Brewers return to play on Monday morning when they play host to the first place Braves.
