Brewers GM Doug Melvin appeared on MLB Network’s “Clubhouse Confidential” Tuesday as part of the network’s “30 Clubs in 30 Days” preview of the club.
It was a quick interview (only about four minutes), but among the topics covered were the team’s plan to go with young pitching, the first base situation during Corey Hart’s absence, the potential of Jean Segura and the team losing 13 players in camp to the World Baseball Classic.
Asked to sum up this season’s team, Melvin said, “Our challenge is to do what we did over the last six weeks in a six-month season.”
“We’ve got to be patient. When you’re talking about young pitching, that’s the toughest part of it, is being patient. But also may have to be ready, be prepared, to make some changes in-season if guys aren’t stepping up and performing,” he added later.
The video is available online at MLB.com, which means you can watch the entire thing for yourself.
