Yuniesky Betancourt Displays Plate Discipline | Disciples of Uecker

Disciples of Uecker

We'd like to go to the Playoffs, that would be cool.

Yuniesky Betancourt drew 22 unintentional (yes, the distinction is necessary) in 556 plate appearances last season with the Kansas City Royals. That rate of 3.9% actually beats his 3.4% career average, and it even manages to beat out Rickie Weeks’s career 3.1% HBP rate. After one day of spring training games, though, Betancourt’s walk rate sits at a cool 33.3% after drawing a walk in his second plate appearance against Barry Zito. Check out Betancourt’s patience:

Is it a step forward? I choose to see it as such! World Series, here we come.
